How to deal with Coronavirus


I’m sure we’re all wondering “What the heck is the Coronavirus” and “How do I protect myself and my family”.

Here’s what we know so far: There are several strands of the Coronavirus, most of which usually lead to the common cold, coughing, fever, congestion, and other uncomfortable symptoms. COVID-19 which is the current strand you are hearing about all on your television and media outlets appears to be the most prevalent and detrimental at this time.

Here is what you need to know: According to the Center for Disease Control, “There is no specific antiviral treatment recommended for COVID-19”. The virus is spread from person to person contact or by touching an item that someone previously infected has come in contact with. If you notice that you have any symptoms of the virus such as cough, cold, fever, diarrhea and/or vomiting you should contact your doctor, immediately.  Health care professionals are asking that sick patients call ahead before coming in so that they can secure the environment and people that may come in contact with you upon your arrival. Once you have discussed the details with your doctor, it is highly recommended that you stay at home, keep your hands clean, be sure to dispose of any tissues or napkins you may sneeze and/or cough in, stay hydrated and keep your physical contact with people limited until you are no longer contagious.

Prevention: Of course, I’m sure like me you want to know how to avoid the virus altogether. According to local news outlets and the Center for Disease Control, there are some ways that will potentially keep you from contracting this virus such as, keeping your hands clean, using disinfecting wipes when you are out in public along with hand sanitizer, keeping your distance from other people displaying common cold symptoms, maintaining good respiratory health and keeping yourself educated about the virus by staying up to date with your local news or The Center for Disease Control.
